Abstract The Parwan Valley in Victoria is known as one of the worst areas of erosion in the state. This slide set illustrates what caused the problem in the Parwan Valley, the extent of which is largely determined by its geological history, and what has been done to restore the land. Restorative measures include replacement of native pastures with improved pastures, tree planting and revetment fencing to prevent creek scour. All these measures reduce erosion and thus the serious sedimentation which had occurred downstream and reduced the storage capacity of the Melton Reservoir.
