Abstract

The Geelong Bird Report is an annual report, compiled by Marilyn Hewish and published by the GFNC. The detailed bird report for the Geelong area includes a brief current status report for all species, noteworthy observations, and records which over the years help to build up a general picture of the distribution and status of our birds. A gazetteer of place names is included. The Geelong area is defined as in Trevor Pescott's 'Birds of Geelong (1983)': from Werribee to Bacchus Marsh, Rokewood, Camperdown and Port Campbell, and including the Bellarine Peninsula, Werribee Plains, Brisbane Ranges, You Yangs, Western District lakes and Otway Ranges. The Western Treatment Plant (Werribee Sewage Farm) is not included." The 2005 edition includes a major article on "The Birds of Reedy Lake" by R McKenzie, T Pescott, M Hewish and the Reedy Lake Study
