Abstract Serrated tussock (Nassella trichotoma) is a troublesome weed of pastures in the Geelong, Werribee and Bacchus Marsh Vic regions. Spraytopping using sublethal rates of glyphosate (450 g/L) to stop viable seed production was trialled at a site near Geelong Vic in November 1994. The most effective treatment was glyphosate at 450 mL/ ha on fully emerged panicles, but the germination of seeds was decreased by only 20%. Other treatments only decreased seed viability by about 10% (A).
